Should also try to buy the land before building because it the build turns nasty at least you own the land and not the developers. You may be able not make progressive payments if the work is substandard and you may be able get another contractor to complete the works. You may lose some money but it may be redeemable.

Considering the cost of building a house. Any house. Consequences for neglectful workmanship should be faaaar more serious. Materials should be half of what the public gets screwed for and instead of being only just adequate, with high levels of maintenance expected, a house should be built to last a lifetime or 3. A human lifetime too, not the 5-7 year lifetime of commercial products that are designed to fail as to keep the manufacturer in business. And homes should be for people and families, not investors waving the team parasite flag. If its built with overpriced puss, put together by people who are taught to pump it out as quick as possible without having to come back, paid for by people who don't care about the place and only lool after it as required by law.... If the building surveyor passed this job as up to standard, then he needs to be investigated.This building is clearly not up to building standard regulations. An independent surveyor should be brought in to make a report, and that report could then be used for any future legal cases against the builder and the surveyor who passed this job as up to standard.

These people are hard working Australians just trying to make a living to build wealth through hard work and care for their parents and their kids. The problem is always someone else's fault. Vote or cash in? Your choice people.

I think in most cases you have to just accept whether in certain jobs you gave it your best It's like anything else in life, when you fixate over it too long, it has a hold of you Whenever I do a contracted job, I never look at it like I'm going to get recognized. I just perform the task I guess people endear to the pressure, but for me, I focus much harder when I create my own checklist for accuracy That way I know exactly what to be accountable for and how to improve on that list with an expanded frame There's always going to be more codes, more standards, more renovations. I just want to do what's right. It might appear like I'm not playing ball, but when you have pride in your work, people tend to be more forebearing They know what I've come prepared to do and are incentivized to keep me around longer knowing that it's gonna be a looooooong time in their scheduled world before I see my way to them again

Here in Minnesota it's hard to make a roof non-compliant. Under 1,200 square feet, use 2-inch gutters and downspouts. Above that, 3-inch. No custom work, next to nothing to goof up. Similarly in bathrooms, use standard shower bases, no edging to get wrong. Maybe you could try those kinds of building regulations?
